Description

Object made from a sheet of bronze folded in half, of rectangular cross-section. The width decreases to the proximal region where it widens again and ends in an almost closed circle. The two points at the distal end are curved inwards. It was located during the 2005 excavation in Sector 01 on the main Iberian street from the entrance gate to the enclosure, on a level prior to the reform of this carried out by the Romans. It is datable in the last quarter of the second century BC. Hair removal tweezers (volsella) appear in the third millennium BC and virtually continue with an unaltered design to the present day. It is a type of piece present in many sites, especially in Iberian and Roman times. Aside from being an object of personal body care, they also included within medical instruments, but often the Roman surgical tweezers had a more elaborate design.
