Description
Female statue with a tunic (chiton) covered by a mantle (himation) that surrounds the body. It was found in the foundations of Number 5 Paradise Street, near the ruins of the Temple of Augustus. Its reuse as construction element would be the cause of its fragmentation and mutilation. Initially, however, it would be part of a larger sculpture dedicated to the imperial cult, exhibited in the forum of the colony or perhaps in the temple itself.
